Wolf 3d…my first FPS, my first PC game. This game scared the bejesus out of me in 1992. Being only 7 years old and going through labyrinths of Nazi’s, dogs, zombies with chest mounted guns and ultra killer bosses really pushed my limits as a young child and dealing with guns, blood and a really super bad ass soundtrack. 20 years later, I still play this game. I have the disc for it in my home office, I bought the XBLA version of it last year and beat it again. The game opened up a lot of things for me in terms of what I looked for in a video game now. However, the soundtrack is what really indulged me into the game. Repetitive, yes….aren’t all video game soundtracks at this time? Wolfenstein 3D was ahead of it’s time and I would like to celebrate by listening to the soundtrack that captivated me 2 decades ago. I highly suggest playing the game if you haven’t. Sure the graphics are horrendous by today’s standards and the sound is rather pathetic, but to me….it’s pure nostalgic gold. Enjoy a few tracks here and continue on with the playlist I’ll provide on YouTube. Some tracks are upbeat and weird, however some tracks are really ominous and dark. Those are the ones I enjoy the most. I hope you do too.
