Nile’s 20th anniversary tour (Read the review here) is still underway and nearing the end of it’s cycle around the country. I was able to see them in St. Louis on March 17th and it was one hell of a show!!!! Get ready to turn your speakers all the way up for the next couple of hours. Here is the show!!!
In anticipation of their upcoming new full-length, Pelagial, today THE OCEAN posts the second in a series of studio video diaries. Possibly their deepest and most profoundly sophisticated composition to date, Pelagial is a progressive musical journey written, recorded and to-be-performed-live as one, single, 53-minute piece of music. Mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Witchcraft) at Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden, the offering will be released as a double CD, which includes both vocal and instrumental versions of the album, on April 26th/29th (Europe) and April 30th (North America/world) through Metal Blade Records.
Revision 3 has become one of my favorite sources to get video game news from. Max Scoville recently posted two videos. One is his take on the game so far since he was able to have a hands on experience with the game and the other video is Max talking to Gameplay Lead Nick Konkle and they discuss in great detail about The Elder Scrolls Online. Who else is completely stoked on this game? I cannot wait to try it out!

So this is what it’s like to see Oblivionized live…right on. Vocalist sounds weird but everything else looks/sounds tight. There needs to be more bodies and heads whipping around, definitely.
Chason Westmoreland of the severely underrated band Fallujah blasts and beats, not just blastbeats, through their song “Become One”. His technique is phenomenal, you have to watch him play. Next up is Fetus Stench’s Emil Wiksten playing through their death metal hit “Bashed, Defaced and Disfigured”. Lastly, Pete Rock of The Vile Impurity lays down the fucking metal on their song “Sanctity in Ruin”.
Today was have some bad ass videos from Evan Brewer as he plays some tracks from the new The Faceless album. Then we have the full band performing the new BTBAM track “Telos” and then Scale the Summit bassist and guitarist play through a couple of tracks as well. It’s a sexy progressive metal edition of Fretboard Friday! Enjoy!

Before Deicide, there was Amon….since the Hoffman brothers have parted ways with Deicide they have since gone back to Amon and continued writing some of the heaviest death metal on the planet. Well here is a new song and video from Amon entitled “Among Us”. It’s fucking HEAVY and exceeds my expectations on what they were going to sound like. Amon fucking rules.

Did you see that? Nothing too brutal correct? I mean taking a dive off of a stage is bad enough but I’ve seen way worse. Also, did anybody else notice M. Bison behind Randy helping out with the push?! Who the fuck is that? Why isn’t he getting bitched at? Here is the real question, why is anyone here at fault anyways? You go to metal shows, mosh, crowd surf and stage dive….you’re going to get hurt. Also, here is a tip, stay the fuck off of the stage unless the band calls for it. I’ve seen bands request that the fans surf to the stage and party with the band members. The last time I’ve seen this happen was Origin and they wanted it. Most bands prefer that the fans stay the fuck off of the stage. It’s too big of a security risk!
So who is that big fucker with the hat? It’s looks like he did most of the pushing in that video. Randy just had him by the hair, which looks bad but obviously this fan was bothering him. M. Bison looks to be the one doing most of the pushing….so who here is really to blame?

Whitechapel releases their new video today for their song “I, Dementia” and I gotta say that was pretty cool. I like the way it was shot, the effects used and the color choice. I also liked how it seemed Phil was battling with himself as he was talking to himself throughout the video. You would think the spinning sawblade effect would have got annoying but strangely enough it didn’t. Oh and the calm part in the middle was shot nice as well….good video!
Well, I was hoping this song was going to be a decent cover but since Born of Osiris can’t make their own music worth a damn I kinda figured they would ruin something I have enjoyed for over 10 years. Well, it happened and I watched it and I hope I can just get it out of my head. Awful awful cover.
