Quick Album Reviews: BALAM, Bongripper/Conan Split EP & Autopsy

This morning I shall toss out 3 quick reviews for 3 albums.

Balam-2013-300x300Balam – Incredibly treacherous and slow DOOM. Only three songs on this EP but these songs are nice and long. Very slow but not monotonous. I truly enjoyed this album and it’s everything you need when it comes to this genre. Menacing riffs and sound, a must listen to if you love ominous doom. 4.5 out of 5

The Bongripper and Conan split is 30 minutes between two songs of straight up pure DOOM. These two give us so much content with only doing it in two songs and it doesn’t feel like enough. You want more! These two doom lords coming together for a split EP was a better idea than peanut butter and jelly! Another great doom release, I give this split 4.5 out of 5

Autopsy-The-Headless-RitualAutopsy’s new album, The Headless Ritual, is a wonderful blend of homicidal death metal and sickeningly awesome doom. This band tests the waters of slower riffing without sacrificing how heavy it is. The result is instant fan boy love. The last few releases from this band have been sub-par in my mind, however, this release is incredibly well written. Tons of riffs, evil melodies and wretched vocal work. This album freaking slays! 5 out of 5
