Evile have finished up their newest album “Five Serpent’s Teeth” and it’s AMAZING. No joking or no clever introduction needed. Evile have made one of the most amazing albums of 2011. Incredibly written songs, perfectly executed guitar playing, drumming and bass guitars are precise and heavy and the vocals are sang with balls. The Drake brothers are obviously influenced by the late 80′s early 90′s thrash, they take that which was legendary and added their own touch to it. Making some of the most deadly metal that has been released in a long time. Ol Drake’s leads on this album are out of this world. Not only are some of the riffs incredibly fast, the solo’s are done with style and soul. In a world of super low tuning and breakdown after breakdown, the “nothing but straight up metal” guitar riffs here are refreshing and anybody who enjoys metal will fully enjoy this. The Drake brothers have created music that is appreciated and respected.
So if you like thrash, especially the golden era of thrash, you will definitely love this album. You have a song like “Eternal Empire” which starts off slow, subtle and quiet…then it rips open into a furious frenzy that would leave even Metallica wishing they would have thought about that. It’s so fast it makes Damage INC look like a slow and weak crippled old man. Every song is a treat, even when the amps are off and the gain isn’t present. “In Memoriam” is a perfect example of this. I haven’t heard a musicians heart played out on the six string like this in a long time.
With all of this praise, there is surely to be some negative sides to the album right? I found none. Vocals are perfect. Drums are not monotonous. Bass guitar has some great parts here and there and keeps the rhythm going just fine. Guitar riffs and solo’s are award winning. Evile’s “Five Serpent’s Teeth” is legendary, that’s all there is to it. Go get Evile’s album “Five Serpent’s Teeth”, on September 26th, 2011 via Earache Records.
Pros: Flawless music. If you love Metallica, Slayer, Pantera and even Mastodon, you’ll enjoy and respect this.
