March 27th….prepare to headbang.
Wednesday Wreck-ommendation!! Type O Negative! Happy Birthday Peter Steele!!!!
Since I was going to pay tribute to Peter Steele since he would have turned 50 today (holy shit!), I’m going to go ahead and recommend his main band, Type O Negative. You may have heard of them, they were absolutely huge in the 90′s and even today their music is still relevant, dark and sexy. Their groove style of doom and Steele’s baritone voice will put you into a trance. Get ready to have your panties soaked. Videos after the jump, listen to Type O Negative!!! RIP Peter Steele.
Dimmu Borgir – Heavenly Perverse
Today’s Random Lyric of the Day! Enjoy.
Happy Birthday Ross Gnarly!!
Before I retire for the night, I just want to show American Aftermath boss man Ross Gnarly some love. Happy Birthday man!!! Here’s to many many more years of headbanging and enjoying great music! Cheers! I’m going to drink a tall glass of juice for you!
Every Time I Die – “Underwater Bimbos From Outer Space”
The ultra violent (it’s real life people) video from Every Time I Die is fucking goooood. Both song and video are definitely mind blowing. Stimulates the eyes, ears and brain. Every Time I Die’s new album “Ex-Life” will be ready for you on March 6th through Epitaph Records.
Randy Blythe: 2012 – New album and possible President?
Things are looking good for Randy Blythe. The new (kick ass) Lamb of God album is dropping soon and I’m sure it’ll sell gangbusters to millions of people all over the world. I want to share with you his latest blog post with you. Randonesia is his personal (yet, public) blog that he uses to share his views and opinions with everyone. You know, usual blog shit. Today’s post is awesome. His posts are usually massive so I’ll just put a little teaser here for you. If you like what you read, check out his blog. If he doesn’t become President he should at least write a book.
Something has got to change. America is falling to pieces around us and we are sitting back and letting it happen. We need someone to come in and REALLY take charge, someone who can’t be bought by corporate dollars because he doesn’t need or want ‘em. Someone who is not going to bullshit the country or the rest of the world about what’s going to go down when he steps into office, because he LIKES pissing people off and doesn’t give a shit about hurting anyone’s feelings. We need a man who is not afraid to stick his neck out and risk embarrassing himself while doing the right thing, a man, in fact, INCAPABLE of embarrassment anymore PERIOD because he’s ALREADY done almost every stupid WRONG thing you can think of at one time or the other. We need a hard-boiled, no-nonsense, mean son-of-a-bitch with a bad reputation who ain’t afraid to cock-whip the shit out of some randomly selected pussy-ass billionaire on live tv during his annual State of the Union Address just to make a point and let the mega-rich know that NO ONE is above the law here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. In short, we need a man who just DOES NOT GIVE A FUCK.
High-Ate-Us: Hope you didn’t want to see Arch Enemy in 2012…
According to lead lady Angela Gossow:
“We play a lot of shows and my workload as the manager and vocalist in Arch Enemy is immense,” says the Arch Enemy vocalist. “I have to be strong and healthy for that — so I take good care of my body, I am a vegan, I work out a lot. I will also take a year or more off after we finish the touring cycle for Khaos Legions in 2012. I need some time to recharge my batteries. Arch Enemy will go on hiatus for a while.”
Well that’s a bitch! I wish I could see Arch Enemy soon!
Listen to another new track from LAMB OF GOD.
The song is awesome even if the audio quality is incredibly bad. Did someone play this on the radio and a kid used his cassette stereo to record this? Anywho, “Desolation” is another track that proves that Lamb of God is here to stay. After all these years they still have fire in their bellies and the music they produce is still heavy and kick ass. Again, the sound quality is not good at all.

I’m going to begin this review with the notes that were found within the promo. Canada’s WOODS OF YPRES push their haunted brand of bleak metal into new dimensions of tortured gloom. ‘Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light‘ defines the sound the band have been striving for, marrying downbeat doom rock with catchy melody and hooky choruses into a sound that promises hope on one hand and delivers desolation on the other. Band mastermind David Gold delivers his dry Nick Cave-esque lyrical approach with a rumbling, rich baritone offset with a heartfelt ‘regular’ vocal, laying his soul bare on tracks such as ‘Career Suicide (Is Not A Real Suicide)‘ or the frail ‘Finality‘. With a rich production courtesy of John Fryer (Depeche Mode, NIN, White Zombie, HIM), the lush orchestration sets the emotions on edge in songs such as ‘Traveling Alone‘ or ‘Death Is Not An Exit‘. Woods of Ypres manage to make music that sounds catchy and upbeat, while crushing hearts at the same time, producing a dangerously addictive combination of self depreciation and eternal hope making ‘Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light‘ a dark curse for those who dare to dream.

SKYRIM: Age of Aggresion cover song
I actually heard this song last night while setting off for a quest. I ran out of the inn as soon as I could because the character in the game was annoying the piss out of me. However, this was shared on Twitter and I just had to watch. Great cover of a rather annoying song, Malukah makes it listenable.
Sorry if you were expecting an arrow to the knee joke. There are none here.
Probably the most epic metal picture of the day. Trivium vs. Ghost.

Crosses update: †2012†
Another teaser video from the band “Crosses“. That bass groove is SEXY.
The Human Abstract “On indefinite hiatus”. Well that’s shitty…
A great band goes on hiatus…click here for more info on the situation. Heavy Blog pretty much has it covered so just go there and read what they have to say, I wouldn’t do The Human Abstract any justice anyways. At least there is this:
Lana Del Ray – Who is this bitch and why should you care? She is actually good, that’s why.
My fiance found Lana Del Ray last week and showed me her music video for “Born To Die“. You know what? I like it. She has an incredible voice and the tracks behind her are captivating. Her new album, Born To Die, drops January 30th and it will definitely be one I check out. I mean, even just a couple of days ago I see Adam Darski (Nergal – Behemoth) confess his love for the girl and linked to this song:
Deftones – Rivière
Welcome to 2012 people. Here is the first “Random Lyric of the Day” post for the new year. It’s one of the best songs from one of their worst albums. Saturday Night Wrist I didn’t care for at first, then fell in love and now I don’t care for it again. However, I still go back and pick a couple of songs to jam to every once in awhile. Here is one I would definitely turn on.
Watch an entire Six Feet Under set!
38 minutes of death metal coming at you early on this Monday morning. Enjoy.
Cover Song Sunday Returns!! KILLSWITCH ENGAGE covering DIO’s “Holy Diver”
Let’s kick off 2012 with the return of the Cover Song Sunday segment. Picking 1 or 2 songs each Sunday that hopefully you will enjoy. Today we’ll listen to KSE covering Dio’s “Holy Diver“. I find this cover to be true to the original while keeping their own style and making it their own in a way. They had balls covering this song but I think they did a great job. Happy New Years!!
