New Music From THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT Makes My Heart Happy

I’ve paid no attention to any of the new stuff coming from Devin Townsend this year. No reason at all, just concentrated on other stuff in the meantime. However, this morning I decided to give a couple of tracks a listen to and I’m on the new “True North” right now and it’s just making me all smiles over here. His poppy rock n roll filled with soul and catchy riffing just lifts me off of the ground with it’s force and undeniable awesomeness. Let’s listen to more after the jump.

Next song I’ll check out is the single that released about a month ago called “Lucky Animals”. Another poppy catchy rock n roll jam with powerful singing chops and a that feel that only Devin Townsend can pull off. His singing ability and writing is not of this world, he is a creative and talented human being. Never going with trends nor the norm, Devin Townsend takes what is acceptable in the metal/rock world and definitely makes it his own. “Lucky Animals” is another fun track to listen to. Let’s listen to one more, shall we?

I’ll listen to a track called “Grace”. Let’s see here….it’s a quiet acoustic intro with a lady singing beautifully into a choir singing “Grace” and a heavy simple palm muted riff underneath. Looks like it’s of course another Townsend classic hit! This album is something you can play at a family gathering and have your grandma become a fan instantly. I love it! I cannot wait to hear the rest of this album!

  • Strong Progress Ryan

Hey Tom, I highly suggest checking out Deconstruction. Heavy and thick like lead syrup. Opeth’s Mikael guests on track 2 and the first two tracks are enough to make you want to listen to the whole thing, it gets odd as you progress through the CD but it’s all about great.

I enjoyed Deconstruction a lot. I didn’t get into it as much as other fans did but I liked it.
