New Music: Down, As Hell Retreats, Throne of Disgust, The Wrath Of Vesuvius, Locrian & Crucified Barbara

Dragon Ball Z - Perfect Cell

Starting today’s music update is a new track from Christian hardcore group “As Hell Retreats” with their new song “Cell Games”. Which is based off of the Dragon Ball Z Cell Saga. The song is damn good, nice and heavy and it definitely has a Dragon Ball feel to the music while not going over board with it. Check it out here.

Next up is a couple of tracks by a sickeningly brutal band known as Throne of Disgust. They are the guttural slam death metal acts you see pop up every once in a while similar to Splattered Entrails and I Ate Everyone. You gotta check this shit out.

Next up is heavy hitting sludge masters Down with 2 new tracks. One of them can be found right here via Rolling Stone, and this song is rad as hell. Witchtripper has a nice groove to it. The next song, Misfortune Teller, is damn good too. I rarely, barely, hardly listen to Down but this is hitting the spot right now. I can’t wait to hear Down IV: The Purple EP!

Next up is a progressive(?) deathcore band known as The Wrath of Vesuvius and their song “Revelation” is a heavy hitting song. It’s boasts a thick ol’ sound and it’s ultimately just plain ol heavy. Heavy emphesis on the “plain” though, sadly…I know there is talent here. I can hear it. I’m just tired of the djent riffing, even if it is supposedly “progressive”. While I am rolling my eyes pretty hard, it’s undeniably still good. Hit me up when you release your album, maybe I’ll be in the mood for this kind of music then.

Next up is Locrian, the doom/showgaze/drone powerhouse with their new track “Omega Vapors”. It’s a very calm mix of guitar somethings with a subtle bass riff underneath it. It’s calming me down, making me want to take a nap. It’s still a good song, even if it really isn’t a song. I love the shit out of this though. I want more. More Locrian!!! This song has me all chill, even if it sounds a little creepy. I’m having a hard time describing this…just go listen to it.

Finally we have Crucified Barbara with their new song “Everything We Need”. I’m immediately turned off by the 80′s feel of it all. Why? I don’t know. With a professional ear though I can hear talented, catchy rock n roll. This sure beats the hell out of most of the garbage I hear on the radio. These ladies definitely have a shot at success. Focus on your talent and keep your tits off of the magazine covers and you’ll earn actual respect.
