The new album from the blackened metallers from the Netherlands known as Murw have released a series of tracks that will fulfill your dark and doom needs. Very little is known about this band here in the U.S. I’m sure it will be only me and American Aftermath giving any sort of shit about music like this….it calls to us…..evil, black metal, doom, magic and it’s all done really well. The riffs are more doom than anything but you can definitely hear the black metal influences. Drumming is definitely conjured from the depths of hell and the daunting screams add to the overall uneasy feel of it all. There is a touch of Norwegian black metal, a touch of depressive black metal and a monstrous presence of doom on “Kanker”. These elements add up to make one great release!
With only 4 songs on the album, you may think “Well shit, this won’t last long…” and you’ll be glad to find out that you’re DEAD WRONG. These 4 epic songs are long, full of riffs and other bad ass metal content and enjoyable. Get stoned and chill out in your room. Go for a drive at 2 AM and crank this album. Listen to it at work and make your co-workers question your sanity. You’re rewarded with just under 40 minutes of wonderful content here. The shortest track is 7:35 long! That’s what I like about this album besides the awesome music, they just give you 4 songs and it’s enough to matter. You aren’t being dragged through shitty intros, interludes & unnecessary filler. This album is great from front to back and fans of this genre(s) will adore this effort from Murw.
