Corey Taylor is an amazing vocalist and honestly he is the only reason why I give a flying fuck about Stone Sour. Sure, they can write a catchy part sometimes…but it just seems so radio friendly and YUCK! Get that away from me.

Stone Sour has released two songs and besides Taylor’s vocals and the sweet guitar solo…I’m bored. That isn’t enough to keep my interest. I need really good riffs. I mean Behemoth “Demigod” good, that “march to hell and kick everyone’s ass” good.

Yeah I’d say both of these songs are C+ at best with only one good listen. Taylor is definitely the only reason why I’d revisit this. We’ll see, I may get something stuck in my head later and then get pissed off at myself for the jinx. Listen to Gone Sovereign / Absolute Zero below.

This is going to be this year’s Trivium album, I can tell already. The hooks, vocal melodies and riffing….reminds me of Trivium’s album “In Waves”.
