Album Review! Barrow – The Depth EP

Barrow - The DepthVery little is known about this post-metal act known as Barrow. I just stumbled upon this 3 track EP on bandcamp and enjoyed every single bit of it. I have no links other than that so just hit up that link and drop 2 quarters for their new EP called “The Depth”. Surprisingly enough, there is quite a bit of depth to this EP for only being 3 songs. Hell the first song alone is worth way more than 50 cents. Their post-metal sound resonates through my soul with every passing second of their EP playing and to top it off, they have one of those vocalists that can pull off a tone that very few can mimic. The vocals are a combined raw mid-high range scream similar to Wayne Static and Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Kingdom of Sorrow). The vocals for Barrow side more with Windstein however and it’s perfectly fitting with the music.

The doom melodies and tragic riffs coming through my headset are very fitting. “The Depth” creates a wonderfully black atmosphere. It’s one of those EP’s that I just can’t get enough of. Not too heavy and not too light, it’s just about as perfect as you can get between the two. The music is very powerful in regards to thick bass tones and great production. You must check out this EP and put it in your rotation, it’ll be one of the best choices you could possibly make today.
