Capturing elements of black metal/sludge/doom/grind AND punk, Unsacred release a 4 track EP that is furious with an epic ending. Three Sisters provides the listener with a unique experience as they venture through this EP. Vocals are mainly screamed with grind/punk intensity and there is no other tone about it. The music changes quite a bit in terms of genre influence, one second it’s blackened gloom riffs and the next thing you know you’re headbanging to some ultra heavy groovin sludge riffing, then the pace picks up and the riot starting grind parts kick your house down. It’s truly amazing how fast the first 3 songs fly by, each one of those songs is a damn good song. However, the final track “Torch Circle”, is the the true gem of this EP for me.
Yes, Three sisters is a thrill ride through many darkened corridors of metal, yet the final track is a gloomy black metal piece that their longest track and the best track on the album. The incredibly dreadful black metal track has an amazing groove to it with it’s ominous riffing and jolting lead tremolo picking over it. It’s quite an astonishing song and I instantly fell in love with it. It honestly steals the show and the other songs on the album sound nothing like it, but in a good way…you don’t see it coming and it was a nice treat.
Three Sisters left me wanting more…the EP ending with such a masterpiece and the riffs and intensity from the rest of the album just made my mouth water for more Unsacred. This EP will calm your cravings until their next release because it is that good. An unexpected hit, Unsacred continues to impress me. Definitely pick this one up and blast it, you can enjoy it 4 times in just over an hour.
