Victory Records found a band that manages to capture the essence of that killer old school metal sound that dominated the 80′s. I don’t mean that make up, wussy, fucking hairband bullshit either. I mean that leather clad, power chord driven fury that had people headbanging and singing along for an entire decade and beyond. Sister Sin captures that moment in a modern era and they give that sound justice with their new album “Now and Forever”. No gimmicks, no awkward singing and lame musical composition here. Just punch you in the face riffing with a female front woman who has a certain raspy raw vocal style that just plain works! However, when need be she can truly sing! Sister Sin is definitely a good breed of metal!!!!
Sister Sin does the old school metal style well. The kings would be proud! If you are into Judas Priest, Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper, then Sister Sin will speak directly to you. They are a great group of musicians, they tend to stick towards the metal aspect of that era but sometimes I will catch a Motley Crue riff or two here and there on the album. It’s just a good time when you listen to Sister Sin. Venom tongued Liv Jagrell provides vocals for Sister Sin and her foul mouthed, “take no shit” attitude just stuck with me. She isn’t going to gain attention for posing naked on a Revolver Magazine or sing about gagging on a dick: she’ll fucking headbang, scream and earn her respect through the ways of the metal!!!!! “Fight Song” is the perfect example of what I mean. Anyone else sense the massive Megadeth presence in that song as well? It’s a damn good homage, not a copy. I love it.
Sister Sin‘s “Here and Forever” is now here and it may last forever! I enjoyed listening to this album. It took me back to 1989 when I was a wee little lad and my parents were listening to music such as this. This is for the old school metal heads who still enjoy this sound yet need something a little newer. Pop this album in and turn it up, you won’t be disappointed!!!! Their tone and overall dedication to get you rockin just made me enjoy this album much more than expected. Great job, Sister Sin!
