Album Review: Polarization – Chasing The Light

Polarization_ChasingTheLight_cover

Polarization‘s “Chasing the Light” from Mediaskare Records is one of those instrumental albums you need to hear. If you’re a fan of great metal, with super hero charm, and especially instrumental work, this album is for you. It has elements of electronic/synth parts here in there, giving it a video game vibe from time to time. Polarization could write the perfect soundtrack for a Metroid or Mega Man game, I swear. The album has a progressive sound that resembles something close to what Animals As Leaders and Curt Shaw has done recently. A very fun album to listen to anytime of the day and with no vocals, you can just concentrate on the riffs and ambient sounds that Polarization has to offer.

“Chasing the Light” also has you chasing the sound as the tempos, speed, effects, acoustic work and everything in between is done well and it changes up a lot throughout the album. This album is packed with riffs and neat subtle tricks for your ear to discover. Plenty of head bobbing moments as you feel the music and get into the groove. When I listen to this album, I just have the desire to go play video games. I cannot help it, it’s where my mind takes me. While you may think that is a retarded thing to think about I honestly think it’s vital because it combines two of my absolute favorite things in life. Great music and video game memories. Just song song “Pulse” alone makes me think of Metroid Prime and Super Smash Bros, just with it’s style and writing. It’s one of those perfect moments when you realize that this album just makes you feel good too, just an uplifting well thought out album. To have just under 54 minutes of this too is just an extra treat, the album goes by fast when you’re working on something and it’s on as background noise. It’s a good album to put on and not annoy co-workers with vocals that they don’t care for. Also, when you’re listening to this album with a fine tooth comb and really enjoying the experience, you’ll be rewarded with a rich musical journey. Each song has great character and each song is compelling. Nothing about this album is sub par or just put in as filler. Every riff, every note, every single ambient moment of the album is absolutely necessary.

Polarization

Polarization‘s “Chasing The Light” is one of those albums you must have in your collection. It will be great to share with friends, family and even your children, even if you don’t have children yet. I’m sure the spastic composition will still be relevant for many many years. Quite a marvelous album, I highly suggest finding a copy and listening to it immediately.
