Album Review! Cripple Bastards – Senza Impronte

Cripple Bastards bring the grind and they fucking bring it hard. Senza Impronte is a bad ass grindcore album with non-stop drumming, riffs and screaming; the screams frequently change up from a mid-range Barney Greenway (Napalm Death) scream, to a low low grunting growl that is similar to Ross Gnarly (Ritalin Attack/Human Transmutation) and even a higher registered screech that resembles something you’d expect from a Haemorrhage or Deathamphetamine album (which is the annoying style). The tempo is fast and heavy, like a bull rushing you at full speed. So you better expect an immense impact or get the fuck out of the way because Cripple Bastards gives zero fucks if you’re in the way. While the music is exceptionally good, the real thing that shines on this record are in fact the vocals.

There are tons of grindcore bands out there and the thing that usually wins me over is the vocal approach. Generally with grind, the music is always fast, furious, pissed the fuck off and awesome. However, you throw in some shitty vocals and it ruins the entire thing, no matter how good the music is. In this particular case, with Cripple Bastards, it’s fucking awesome. There is kind of a Gollum vocal approach here n there but it works out well. There are 5 songs on this album and one of the songs sounds like it splits into 9 totally different songs. Which would make sense considering the track has 2 names, so maybe one of the titles mean “Shit loads of grind on one track”. Anyways, the music is thrilling and Senza Impronte is a complete rager of an album. It packs the punch that you would want when you listen to grindcore.

So be sure to check this album out, it’s a solid release. Cripple Bastards continue to kick ass even after 24 years.
